Asian Heritage Fair to Bring Music, Art, Festivities to Civic Center on Sunday

The San Francisco Asian Heritage Street Celebration will bring performances, food, art and festivities to San Francisco's Tenderloin and Civic Center neighborhoods on Sunday.

In conjunction with Sunday Streets SF, the street fair will highlight several Asian cultures, including Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Indonesian, Laotian, Vietnamese and Indian.

The celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A procession will travel along Larkin Street, beginning at the Little Saigon Gate on Eddy Street and ending at a stage on Larkin and McAllister streets near the Asian Art Museum.

Street fair organizers say the celebration will include traditional and contemporary exhibitions, in addition to a costume contest where participants are invited to dress as police officers, firefighters, and other professionals.

Activities will include a live martial arts demonstration, a sari-draping tutorial, origami, Chinese chess, cherry blossom printmaking and more.

Several streets in the Civic Center area will be closed to traffic during the parade and performances, according to organizers. This will include portions of Fulton, Larkin, Ellis and Jones streets and Golden Gate Avenue near the Civic Center Plaza.
