Music by Elton John, Chicago, Mary J. Blige and several other artists is set to be added to the National Recording Registry this year.
The registry, which is administered by the Library of Congress, will have selections from 1913 to 2015 this year.
This year's list includes John's 1973 double album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Blige's 1994 sophomore album, My Life and Chicago's 1969 record Chicago Transit Authority.
Recordings by Amy Winehouse (Back to Black), Celine Dion ("My Heart Will Go On") and Tracy Chapman (Tracy Chapman) are also among this year's 25 additions to the Registry.
The recordings were selected as "audio treasures worthy of preservation for all time," based on their "cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation's recorded sound heritage," according to the Library of Congress.
"These are the sounds of America - our wide-ranging history and culture. The National Recording Registry is our evolving nation's playlist," Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden said in a statement.
