Former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall has admitted a milestone birthday helped to lift a weight from her shoulders. The singer, now 32, claimed turning 30 helped with how she was feeling and insists her new upcoming album helped her to "find herself again".

Speaking to Puss Puss Magazine, the former X Factor star said: "I wanted the fans to be let in on that experience because that's the truth, that was the process of this album – figuring out what my sound is."

She added: "Literally the minute I turned 30 it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders and I stopped caring as much about what people think."

And Jade admitted the change in attitude can only be a good thing as she goes solo, claiming she will be under a bigger magnifying glass without her bandmates, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

She opened up about how some people might still expect her to look like she did when she was 20, but said her body has changed. However, she is looking forward to getting her album released and taking to the stage again. "I've really missed being on stage," she said. "I just want the album to be out in the world so I can start writing again."

Her latest interview comes after the South Shields-born star revealed that her current hit song FUFN was actually inspired by a very dramatic dream she had about a boyfriend. She admitted the dream had left her filled with series levels of rage.

Last month, the songstress returned with her single F**k You For Now (FUFN) after huge success with Angel of My Dreams.

She confessed the inspiration behind the latest tune and how it stemmed from a dream. During an appearance on Capital FM Breakfast, Jade revealed that she had a dream about a boyfriend cheating on her which left her very angry when she woke up.

"It actually having a dream about my boyfriend cheating on me and waking up the next day fuming," she explained to the show's hosts Jordan North and Sian Welby.

Finding her revelation funny, Sian commented: "Isn't it funny how you still blame him in the morning." "That's how it began," Jade added.
