This weekend, Bermuda will be treated to a world-class musical experience as The Queen’s Six, an esteemed a cappella group based at Windsor Castle, arrives to perform two exclusive shows in support of Ambers Wings, an organization dedicated to animal-assisted services for under-resourced youth.
The performances will take place at St. Teresa’s Cathedral in Hamilton, with the first show on Friday at 8 p.m. and the second on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Each show will run for 90 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission.
A Unique Musical Experience
Heidi Michelson, representing Ambers Wings, shared her excitement about the event, highlighting that The Queen’s Six is not only known for their stunning vocal harmonies but also for their engaging stage presence.
“They are a distinguished sextet that regularly performs before the British royal family,” Michelson explained. “They’re celebrated worldwide for their unique blend of renaissance polyphony, madrigals, and contemporary pop arrangements. They have been part of the St. George’s Choir and have performed at royal weddings and the funerals of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.”
Despite performing in a cathedral, Michelson emphasized that the event is not a religious service. “People might hesitate to buy tickets thinking this is a religious event, but it’s not. They sing pop, classical, and a mix of genres, with a touch of comedy as well. It’s going to be a fantastic experience for everyone.”
Supporting Ambers Wings: Animal-Assisted Services for Youth
All proceeds from the concerts will go toward Ambers Wings, a charity focused on equine-assisted therapy for children ages 5 to 18. Currently, the organization works primarily with horses, using their natural ability to reflect human emotions as a tool for self-regulation and emotional healing.
“Horses mirror our emotions, and they help children work through life challenges without words—just through observation and interaction,” Michelson said. “We engage in hands-on activities, games, and guided therapy with the horses to provide emotional support and life skills.”
While equine therapy is the current focus, Michelson hopes to expand the program to include other animals, such as dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and goats.
How to Get Tickets and Support
Tickets for the event are tiered between $49 and $85, making it accessible to a wide audience. They are available for purchase on the Ambers Wings website (amberswings.net). For those who have difficulty purchasing tickets online, Michelson encourages them to call or email her directly for assistance.
“We want to make sure everyone who wants to attend can do so,” she said. “Every dollar raised from these concerts will help provide opportunities for children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to these therapeutic experiences.”
For more information about Ambers Wings, visit their website or follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Michelson can also be contacted at amberswings7@gmail.com or by phone at 337-0606.
With world-renowned music and a meaningful cause, this weekend’s event is one that Bermuda won’t want to miss.
