Rob Walter, the esteemed South Africa men’s white-ball head coach, has announced his resignation effective April 30, 2025, citing personal reasons. Walter’s departure marks the end of a historic era for South African cricket.
Under his leadership, the Proteas reached new heights, including their first-ever ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final in 2024 and semi-final appearances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
His coaching guided South Africa to memorable series victories against teams like Australia and Pakistan, and he brought structure and resilience to the team in 67 ODI and T20I matches.
Rob Walter expressed his gratitude, stating, “Coaching the Proteas has been an incredible honour, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.” South Africa will now embark on the search for his successor, aiming to build upon the solid foundation Walter has established.
