UND’s Treysen Eaglestaff transferring to South Carolina
First member of First Team All-Summit League finds a new home, five more still in transfer portal
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The first member of the First Team-All Summit League Men’s Basketball Team in the Transfer Portal has found a home, and it’s a guy South Dakota State Jackrabbit fans might be happy to help pack some bags for on his way out of the league.
North Dakota’s Treysen Eaglestaff officially committed to play his basketball in the SEC next season and will transfer to the University of South Carolina.
As a junior last year he averaged career highs with just under 19 points per game and 35 steals, most memorably scoring 40 against Alabama and a Summit League Tournament-record 51 in their quarterfinal upset of South Dakota State, a game which proved to be the final one of SDSU’s Eric Henderson era with the former Jackrabbit head coach stepping down this week to take the head coaching position at Drake University.
With Eaglestaff committing that leaves SDSU’s Oscar Cluff, USD’s Chase Forte, St. Thomas’ Miles Barnstable and Omaha’s duo of Marquel Sutton and JJ White as the remaining All-Summit first teamers available in the portal.
The only player from the first team not in the portal is North Dakota State’s Jacksen Moni. The former Northern State star is out of eligibility.
