Libya PM meets UAE president in Abu Dhabi

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah of Libya’s Government of National Unity met with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting, as reported by the Hakomitna platform, took place following an official invitation extended to Dbeibah by the Emirati leadership.
Discussions between the two leaders centred on cooperation in economic development, energy partnerships, and investment opportunities. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues relevant to both nations.
Both officials emphasised the importance of strengthening Libya-UAE bilateral relations, with a focus on promoting stability and development in Libya and the broader region whilst advancing mutual interests of both countries.
This visit marks a continuation of diplomatic engagement between Dbeibah and Emirati officials. The Libyan Prime Minister previously visited the UAE in March 2023, when he met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to discuss regional security and economic cooperation.
Prior to that, Dbeibah attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January 2022, signalling Libya’s interest in developing renewable energy partnerships.
These recurring visits reflect ongoing efforts to normalise relations between the two nations following a period of tension during Libya’s conflict, when the UAE had supported rival factions.
