For those eager to travel and looking for a new adventure without breaking the bank, there is an underrated gem that has been recommended as a must-visit holiday spot – it is affordable and brimming with beauty.
Many of us dream of jetting off to exotic locations annually, but let's face it, holidays can be pricey. However, there are hidden gems out there that won't have you emptying your wallet.
Albania is touted as one of Europe's most budget-friendly destinations, yet it often flies under the radar. Whether it's accommodation, food, or drinks, this place caters to all budgets.
The coastal city of Sarandë in southern Albania is an ideal getaway for beach lovers, history enthusiasts, and those who enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade. Not to mention, it boasts an array of excellent bars and eateries.
If you're after a quieter vibe or a day away from the tourist buzz, the picturesque town of Ksamil is just a 20-minute drive from Sarandë. Swedish travel influencer Laila has praised it as "one of the best travel destinations when you're on a budget" on TikTok.

In her video clip, she showcases the city's allure, highlighting its "amazing beaches with crystal clear waters, stunning beach clubs and restaurants." Laila couldn't believe the bargain she'd scored on her getaway after nabbing some seriously cheap accommodations for under 25 euros - that's just £20.85!
She shared: "We stayed in a nice room with a sea view balcony and breakfast for 19 euros per person at a three-star meta." The food was cheap too, with Laila revealing you can get a decent feed for less than a tenner. "I need to go," piped up one enthusiast. "This is perfect," agreed another.
Ksamil boasts stunningly clear waters, a chill vibe and an abundance of pretty beaches to check out by foot. The white sands and pristine waters of Lori Beach could be mistaken for snaps straight outta The Maldives travel guides.
Just over at Ksamil Beach is the buzzing spot of Bora Bora Beach, where lively bars and splashy water sports are all go. Adventurers often rent kayaks to paddle out to the nearby deserted islands.
History buffs are in for a treat, with Butrint National Park just a 15-minute spin from Ksamil. This UNESCO World Heritage site is chock-full of fascinating ancient ruins. Plus, if you're hanging about Ksamil for an extended stay, you could nip over to Corfu, Greece, for a cheeky day trip.
Sadly, there aren't any direct flights straight to Ksamil from Ireland.
You will need to fly to Corfu in Greece, clocking in at about three hours in the air. Afterward, hop on a ferry to Sarandë. Once your feet are on solid ground, it's just a quick taxi or bus jaunt to Ksamil.
Alania Tour Guides has the lowdown on reaching Ksamil beach, saying: "You can get to Ksamil beach by flying to Tirana airport. From Tirana airport, it takes 5.5 hours to travel by bus, taxi or car to Ksamil."
