Susan McCann has admitted she finds being on the road tough, and she hasn't ruled out retiring from touring.

Susan told RSVP Magazine: "I used to drive everywhere on my own, but now I find it hard travelling late at night. I’m lucky to be able to go out and about.

"That’s the main thing. I love singing and my voice is as good as it was.

"I love doing concerts and I will make up my mind at the end of the year to see what I’m doing after that.

"I’ll be nearly 77 when this tour is over, so I’ll see how I feel."

Susan didn't do anything big when she turned 75.

She said: "I marked my 70th birthday with a party for my immediate family, my kids and my grandkids.

"We do birthdays every 10 years in this house, so it will be a while before there’s a big birthday party again.

"My daughter always takes me out for my birthday every year. My kids usually bring me over to their houses for dinner."

Susan has had an incredible career, and there have been many highlights including winning awards, travelling to America and performing with Porter Wagoner.

She said: "The first would have been winning the European Gold Star Award back in 1982. I was voted the best country music singer in Europe after being chosen by RTÉ to represent Ireland.

"That then introduced me to all the different markets around Europe like Norway, Sweden and Denmark. It broadened my career.

"I was only 28 when I made my first trip to Nashville and I sang in the Grand Ole Opry with Porter Wagoner.

"He also produced my albums. Ireland was great at the time too, there were so many amazing dancehalls and ballrooms in Dublin. We had great craic."

Susan inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame by Patrick Kielty on The Late Late Show Country Special. It came as a big surprise to her because she never thought it was going to happen.

She said: "It was so special, it really was. I didn’t think I was going to get it, it never entered my head.

"When I hadn’t won at this stage, I thought I was never going to get it. It was amazing because I didn’t know.

"We had a great night, but I was suffering a bit the next day. I didn’t mind though [laughs]. There was plenty of wine in the green room.

"Patrick Kielty is a great character and we had a great chat together after the show. He’s an amazing fella and he’s great at his job on The Late Late Show. I knew his late father very well.

"I would also be friendly with Jonathan Owens, who is the musical director of The Late Late Show, and his wife Oniesa. Philomena Begley was also there so it was great craic."
