The Cerus Quartet has been awarded an Honorable Mention at the 2025 Plowman Chamber Music Competition, held on March 22-23 at the Missouri Theatre in Columbia, Missouri.
In a post on Facebook, the Plowman's Artistic Director Ayako Tsuruta announced the results and wished each participating ensemble "an excellent season of more wonderful chamber music!"
The Plowman Chamer Music Competition is a biennial festival that assists emerging collegiate ensembles in their artistic development by providing top honors and cash awards to non-professional ensembles. The Cerus Quartet received the Plowman's Stephen and Joan Mudrick Honorable Mention and a $1,000 honorarium as part of their prizes.
Since their formation in 2020 at the University of Michigan, the Cerus Quartet has performed across the country and remains dedicated to building a diverse repertoire and community outreach.
Previous accolades for the quartet include first prize in the 2024 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition, silver medal in the 2023 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and first prize and Michigan prize in the 2023 Briggs Chamber Music Competition.
The Cerus Quartet will be performing in northern Michigan on June 26 at the Oliver Art Center in Frankfort, MI. They are one of three Sound Garden Project resident ensembles scheduled this season at IPR. Stay tuned for more details!
