For many years now, rumors of a major family feud have circled Billy Ray Cyrus and his family. Now, it seems the country crooner is hoping for a second chance.
On Instagram, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer shared a tribute to two of his daughters, Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus. As it turns out, both of them announced some exciting news recently. While Miley announced the release of her new album, Something Beautiful, coming up in May, Noah released her latest single, “Don’t Put It All On Me,” with the band Fleet Foxes.

“Holy s—,” Cyrus began his caption. “I seldom ever swear in my post but this deserves one! You are witnessing in real time what it feels like for a Dad who with in less than one weeks time has had his ass kicked and his mind blown by not one …but two of his own daughters @mileycyrus @noahcyrus.”
“Flesh and blood … completely taking their art to a whole new level,” he gushed alongside a split screen of both of them. “Congratulations girls! Well done. I’m so damn proud of both of you. I’m actually crying as I write this. Thank God you can’t see me.”
“Have fun now and be happy! 😊” he wrote at the end. “Love, Dad.”
In the comment section, followers praised Billy Ray for being such a proud dad and are hoping that the post means that the family made amends. “I hope that all of you heal or have healed your relationships!” wrote one comment. “Everyone deserves a second chance ❤️.” To the comment, Billy Ray then replied with three red hearts.
If you’re reading this and asking yourself what really happened to Cyrus family, there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle. First of all, Billy Ray had a tumultuous relationship with Miley and Noah’s mom, Tish, and they filed for divorce multiple times between 2010 and 2022. When news broke in 2013 that Billy Ray had filed for divorce, Miley tweeted, “@billyraycyrus since your text and email obviously aren’t working would you like to talk like this?”
In 2022, an insider told E! News that Miley was closer to Tish during their finalized divorce that year. “The divorce between her parents have put a strain on her relationship with her dad and it’s been hard to connect with him in the last year,” the source said. “She hopes they can eventually work on their relationship.”
Then, in July 2024, a leaked audio of Billy Ray bad-mouthing Miley and Tish was leaked to Daily Mail. In it, he calls her daughter a “devil” and a “skank” while he calls his ex a “liar” and a “cheat.”
Unsurprisingly, it seems the audio was the last straw for Miley. “There is no excuse, ever, for a father to call his daughter a skank,” a source told Daily Mail of the Grammy winner’s reaction. “Any inkling of respect that Miley had for her father is gone.”
At the time, Billy Ray reportedly reached out to his daughter and attempted to apologize. “He is trying to say that what he said about Miley, calling her a skank, was taken out of context,” the source said. “But Miley is not even entertaining any of this,” the source revealed. “She won’t be accepting any apologies.”
So, is Billy Ray’s show of support a sign of their reconciliation or just an olive branch to work through things? Only time will tell.
