The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has issued a stark 'at risk' warning to all UK tourists travelling solo to Laos. The advisory was posted on the FCO's website as part of an update to its "safety and security" page for British holidaymakers.

"There is a risk of harassment when travelling alone. We recommend you use a known taxi service; one booked by your accommodation or one of the local taxi apps," the FCO cautioned those venturing out of the European Union towards the Far East.

The FCO advises travellers to verify the driver's identity and license plate when the vehicle arrives, share journey details with a friend or utilise the app's sharing feature if available, and be cautious of drivers claiming to be registered with app companies and attempting to pick up passengers on the street.

Apple has highlighted special features that families can use to share purchases, stay connected, and safeguard their data. For parents, there are also options to set up parental controls to manage how children use their Apple devices.

With Family Sharing, purchases and subscriptions eligible for sharing, location, and more can be shared among family members. Each member uses their own device and Apple Account, but iCloud storage, subscriptions (to services like Apple Music and Apple Arcade), and other content is shared, reports Birmingham Live.

When setting up Family Sharing, it's possible to share your location with family members and assist them in locating lost devices with the Find My app.

The FCDO advises travellers: "Do not leave your passport as a deposit or guarantee when hiring motorcycles. There have been reports of rental companies arranging for their motorcycles to be deliberately stolen or damaged, then keeping passports and demanding high fees."

They also stress the importance of insurance, saying: "Make sure your travel insurance covers medical and other costs that arise from motorcycle accidents."

For those looking to keep safe and connected, sharing your location with loved ones is recommended. Go into your device's Settings, tap [your name], head to Family, and enable Location Sharing.

You can select particular family members you wish to share your location with by tapping their name. Location sharing with family group members means they can assist in locating any lost devices.
