Beth Gibbons has added Brisbane to her upcoming Australian itinerary as she prepares to perform as part of Vivid LIVE and RISING in Sydney and Melbourne, respectively.
Gibbons, the voice of the highly influential trip-hop/alternative British band Portishead, released her first-ever solo album, Lives Outgrown, last May. The album was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize award.
While Gibbons has previously collaborated with Rustin Man on the 2002 album Out Of Season and Henryk Górecki on the 2019 LP Symphony No. 3 (Symphony Of Sorrowful Songs) with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lives Outgrown marked her first album to be released without collaboration.
With Portishead, the band released three albums: 1994’s Dummy, their 1997 self-titled album, and 2008’s Third. They also released the live album, Roseland NYC Live, in 1998.
Aside from the collaborative albums mentioned above, Gibbons has worked with artists such as Joss Stone and Annie Lennox and appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s Mother I Sober from his Grammy-nominated album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
Gibbons will head to Australia for the first time in over 15 years — where she performed with Portishead — this June, announcing that she’ll perform at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday, 3 June. Her upcoming tour dates mark the Australian premiere of the Lives Outgrown tracks, plus career classics.
