Chelsea Handler’s Dating History Includes a Rapper, a Threesome & Her Current Mystery Man

Mystery Man (2024 – Present)

Handler first mentioned her current relationship in December 2024, revealing that she met him “a long time ago” but that they didn’t “become lovers” until a few months prior, after she invited him on a trip to Mallorca with her friends.

Unlike her previous public relationships, Handler is keeping this romance private for now, telling Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper that it’s “out of respect for their privacy. I don’t want him to have to be exposed to my world.”

In February 2025, Handler shared more details with Us Weekly while promoting her memoir, I’ll Have What She’s Having, praising her boyfriend’s lack of ego. “Right now, I’m dating someone who has no ego. He’s very good at a lot of things, but he’ll never ever show you,” she told the publication. He doesn’t need that kind of validation.”

She also revealed a touching moment between them: “The other day, he goes, ‘God, you know how lucky I am to be waking up next to you. Do you know how many men would die to wake up next to you?'” Though Handler appears smitten, she maintains she isn’t looking for anything permanent, telling Us Weekly, “I want lovers all around the world. I want lovers all around the globe.”

Jo Koy (2021 – 2022)

After 20 years of friendship, Handler and fellow comedian Jo Koy took their relationship to the next level in 2021. The relationship seemed promising, with Handler sharing heartfelt messages on social media that suggested she’d found her person.

“For everyone who is still looking for their person, do not adjust who you are or make yourself smaller to find them. Be patient and never settle for anything less than you deserve,” she wrote on Instagram during their relationship. “Your person is coming and sometimes—they’ve been standing in front of you the whole time.”

Despite the initial excitement, the pair announced their breakup in July 2022 after about a year of dating. Handler later opened up about the split on Brooke Shields’ podcast, explaining, “There were just some behaviors that we couldn’t agree on, and it felt to me like I would have to abandon myself—which maybe I would have been OK to do if I were 20 or 25—but I wasn’t willing to do that.”

Andre Balazs (2011 – 2012)

Handler’s relationship with businessman Andre Balazs lasted about a year between 2011 and 2012, but it apparently took a toll on her. On Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast in 2012, Handler described the relationship as draining.

“It was extremely time consuming and it was really, really hard for me to focus on anything at all,” she shared. “He lived in New York and I lived in L.A., and it was a constant back and forth, flying and meeting each other … it was just exhausting.”

Despite preferring long-distance relationships because she doesn’t “really want to deal with someone on a daily basis,” this particular romance “kind of took the wind out of me … it drained me from my career, it drained me from my work,” she added. “I wasn’t focused on anything. It was just stress.”

50 Cent (2011)

In what might be one of her most unexpected romances, Handler briefly dated rapper 50 Cent in 2011. The relationship was short-lived, lasting only about two months.

“I don’t know if I can handle him, to be honest. I like to have fun, and I’m really trying to not get into anything too serious,” she told Us Weekly at the time of their relationship.

Despite the brevity of their romance, Handler has fond memories of their time together. Twelve years later, she named 50 Cent as her “favorite ex” during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in January 2023. “I love 50 Cent, he was fun. He was just a sweetheart and he was fun to be around,” she said. “My friends loved hanging out with him. I loved hanging out with him… If I saw him I’d definitely have a drink with him.”

Ted Harbert (2006-2010)

Handler dated Ted Harbert, who was the president of E! Entertainment while she was hosting Chelsea Lately on the network, for four years before they split in 2010.

The relationship ended for multiple reasons, including their work connection. “I would come home from work, and Ted would be like, ‘Do you want to watch your show?’ and I’d be like, ‘No, I just came from my show. That’s the last thing I’d want to do.’ That was the reason it didn’t work out, ultimately. I think,” she explained to Marie Claire in 2012.

In a more revealing confession, Handler told Andy Cohen in June 2023 that a threesome with a masseuse contributed to their breakup. “I was very turned on by this woman,” she recalled on Radio Andy 13 years after her split from Harbert. “I ended up hooking up with her several times without the guy that I was dating. That’s when I knew it was time to break up with the guy.”
