Cotter Ellis, drummer of Goose since last year, brought his first of two Colorado Cotter & Friends shows to the 10 Mile Music Hall in the mountain town of Frisco, Colorado on Wednesday March 19th.
Flanked by two locals (Torrin Daniels of Kitchen Dwellers on synth banjo and Casey Russell of Magic Beans on keys) as well as two of his former bandmates in Vermont group Swimmer (bassist Jack Vignone and lead guitarist Joe Agnello), Cotter and company treated the local ski crowd to a set heavy on the Grateful Dead repertoire alongside a peppering of tunes by The Band, Allman Brothers, Little Feat and more. That crew, sans Daniels, then made its way to Avon, CO on Thursday night for a second show at Agave.
Cotter’s busy week in Colorado is set to continue on Friday and Saturday when he links up with an Everyone Orchestra lineup featuring Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), Holly Bowling, Kanika Moore, Josh Fairman (SunSquabi), Jonny G (lespecial), and Nate Miller (Flamingosis) for performances at Boulder’s Fox Theatre (3/21) and Denver’s Cervantes’ (3/22).
On the Goose front, Cotter’s next appearance will come when the band makes its debut at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Thursday, April 24th.
