In the middle of DARKSIDE’s highly-anticipated Psychic Spiral Nothing Tour, guitarist, songwriter and consummate collaborator Dave Harrington has planned a very special show for his fans in Brooklyn, N.Y. Before DARKSIDE takes the stage for a two-night booking at Brooklyn Steel on March 21 and 22 (with support from Eucademix and Spencer Zahn), Harrington will lead his Pranksters East in a performance at local indie haven The Sultan Room.

Tonight, March 20, Harrington will stand before a stacked ensemble of longtime friends and collaborators for a night zero show reflecting his eclectic style and musical interests. Seven high-profile peers are listed on the bill: bassist Anna Abondolo, trumpeter Steven Bernstein (the Lounge Lizards, Sexmob), woodwind wizard Stuart Bogie (Antibalas), drummer Jeremy Gustin (Delicate Steve), keyboardist and composer Yuka Honda (Cibo Matto), percussionist Mauro Refosco (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Atoms for Peace, David Byrne) and drummer Kenny Wollesen (Sexmob, Bill Frisell, John Zorn).

Harrington has also teased surprise special guests set to join in the elaborate fusion of jam, jazz, rock and beyond. While the prolific artist’s wide orbit makes speculation senseless, DARKSIDE bandmates Nicolas Jaar and Tlacael Esparza and frequent associates like Zahn feel about as likely as any shot in the dark.

Tickets for Harrington’s Pranksters East at The Sultan Room are available now.

Last time Harrington was in New York, he tore the house down at Brooklyn Bowl with Taper’s Choice and another staggering supergroup for Relix’s 50th anniversary celebration. Read a recap of that landmark event here.
