Bluesy guitarist Gary Clark Jr. has been an opening act for The Rolling Stones in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019. He’s also sat-in on guitar with the legendary rock band. Often it’s to jam with The Stones on blues covers, like Freddie King’s “Going Down.”

Now, Clark is taking out Alabama soul singer Lamont Landers as his opener for shows on Clark’s latest headlining tour.

Landers will open for Clark on six shows: June 17 in St. Paul, Minn., June 20 in Interlochen, Mich., June 30 and July 1 in Deerfield, Mass., and July 3 in Bensalem, Penn.

On his Instagram account, Landers wrote, “Well, here we go! Thrilled to be back on the road for this run with the amazing Gary Clark Jr. Come out and see us y’all!”

In 2023, Rolling Stone included Clark on the magazine’s Greatest Guitarists of All Time list. He clocked in at 209, ahead of greats like The Police’s Andy Summers, Mountain’s Leslie West and Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones.

Clark’s best-known songs include “When My Train Pulls In,” “Pearl Cadillac,” “Don’t Owe You a Thang,” and Grammy-winning “The Land.” His fourth and latest studio album, 2024’s “JPEG Raw,” boasts a cameo from R&B icon Stevie Wonder, on the song “What About the Children.” In addition to Landers, other openers on Clark’s 2025 tour include Nashville guitar phenom Grace Bowers. Landers has been on big stages many times before. Last year, the Decatur native and resident toured with acclaimed band Black Pumas. He also performed at Shaky Knees Festival and Tennessee’s Pilgrimage Fest.

In spring 2018, the Landers and his band wowed on Fox TV’s “Showtime at The Apollo.”

The Apollo performance helped score Landers a slot on Tuscaloosa Amphitheater’s Bicentennial Bash, a 2019 concert headlined by Americana superstar Jason Isbell. That summer, Landers returned to TV. He appeared on top-rated NBC show “America’s Got Talent,” performing Al Green soul standard “Let’s Stay Together” in front of judges including Simon Cowell, the notoriously blunt “American Idol” heel, with whom Landers had a (staged) on-camera tiff.

This year, Landers will release a studio album produced by A-lister Dave Cobb, known for his work with Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Red Clay Strays.

Landers also has an EP in the can by a project called Player’s Club, with Alabama Shakes bassist Zac Cockrell. Muscle Shoals legend Spooner Oldham contributed keyboards.

In late 2024, Landers was featured in an ad campaign for clothing retailer The Gap, along with eight other “sing-fluencers,” musicians with significant social media followings.

Landers has more than 550,000 followers on TikTok and another 350,000 on Instagram. He regularly posts stunning covers of him singing classics by the likes of The Spinners and Otis Redding.

Landers fans include The Roots drummer/ “The Tonight Show” musician Questlove and Kiss frontman Paul Stanley. Last year, Stanley raved about Landers on X, posting " If you love R&B like I do you’ll LOVE him."
