When he was “The Fuzz,” he couldn't have any fuzz. But now that Baxter Mayor Jon Main is retired from the State Patrol, and free to grow a beard, some folks don't even recognize him. Reportedly, he was even mistaken for actor Sean Connery while on vacation in Hawaii recently.

Earl Johnsen, owner of KLIZ-AM and FM radio stations here announced today that he has agreed to sell the stations to Sequel Broadcasting of Colorado. Johnsen, who is ending a career in broadcasting that spans 30 years, will continue as president of Mid-Minn. Communications, a PR and advertising firm.

Howard Wygle, his wife and two children were liberated from the Santo Tomas internment camp in the Philippines. They had been prisoners since Bataan fell in 1942. Howard was superintendent of a chromium mine there. His brother, Fred, is employed at the Pillager Dam. Howard said his family was on a starvation diet the last six months.
100 years ago (1925)
Inquiry to the county this morning shows that Auditor C.W. Mahlum paid out state wolf bounties amounting to $2,040 for 1924. This represented 134 grown wolves at $15 each, and five cubs at $6 each. Since January the 1925 bounties amount to $1,205 leading officials to believe that more will be expended this year than last.
