Downtown Waukesha Beatles-themed bar Let It Be, 716 Clinton St., will host a fundraiser for the Waukesha Parade Memorial Fund on May 4. The event will feature Beatles tribute band American English.

WAUKESHA — Members of the Beatles walked across a zebra crossing for the cover of the album "Abbey Road." Now patrons of the new "Let It Be" bar could have a similar pedestrian crossing soon. The Waukesha Building and Grounds Committee will discuss a proposal on Monday by owner Dave Meister to update the crosswalk on the south crossing of Clinton Street and South Street to the "London Standard" style.

According to city documents, the request is to update the crosswalk marking across the south leg of Clinton Street at South Street to the "London Standard" (i.e. Zebra Crossing).

That pedestrian crossing is the closest to the new bar not including the pedestrian crossings at the signalized intersection at Clinton Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

"Engineering staff have reviewed this request and do not have an issue with updating the south leg of Clinton Street at South Street crosswalk marking to the Zebra Crossing style as long as an agreement is in place with the owner of "Let It Be" for them to pay for the removal of the existing crosswalk marking, installation of the Zebra Crossing style, and any future maintenance," the documents said.
