Although somehow I’ve only seen Luke Combs once in my life, I can tell you with certainty that it’s a concert every country music fan needs to go to.
The man gets the people going and both his ballads and beer drinking anthems seem to be made for huge venues, which he proved by breaking attendance records on each of his first three stops on his Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old stadium tour.
The tour kicked off at Milwaukee’s American Family Field, where he set the high water mark for single night attendance (44,752) and two-night total (86,720). Next stop was Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium where he again broke the two-night record with 98,015 attendees. Then it was off to the home of my college football team, Penn State, where he brought an astounding 73,339 people for a single show despite some bad weather at Beaver Stadium. It was also the biggest stadium show he’d ever done.
Now am I a bit disappointed that I wasn’t there and also biased to think that anything that happens in State College is the best? Yeah, I’m guilty as charged.
But a few videos have been posted online that show just how special of a night it was in Pennsylvania. I haven’t had chills like this since watching Riley Green sing “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” in Phenix City, Alabama.
Take a watch for yourself and try and tell me Luke Combs wasn’t on a different level…
