VALDOSTA – VocalFlo is seeking sponsors for the 2nd Annual South Georgia Gospel Music Festival in celebration of Black Music Month.

Release:

The 2nd Annual South Georgia Gospel Music Festival (SGGMF) is happening on June 8, 2024 in celebration of Black Music Month. The United States has been celebrating Black Music Month in June since 1979. The month of June is set aside to appreciate the contributions of African-American musicians, composers, singers, and songwriters in American culture. June honors the history and rich African traditions that gave birth to different styles of music such as rap, hip-hop, jazz, rhythm and blues, barbershop, and swing. While President Jimmy Carter designated June as Black Music Month in 1979, it wasn’t until 2000 when the presidential proclamation for the month was signed. In 2009, President Barack Obama went on to rename the month from Black Music Month to its current name, African-American Music Appreciation Month.

Our Festival is offered free of charge to the community, and we are seeking your help to present a celebration of high magnitude, and to help bring awareness to this year’s feature non-profit, The South Street Community Care House. The South Street Community Care House initiatives began on January 25, 2010 under the leadership and guidance of Sandra J. Tooley. Their objectives are to provide educational support for children and elderly, to provide health and nutrition for children, elderly and needy, to provide support for youth and the needy, to provide information regarding development opportunities for the community and to promote pride and improve relationships in the community. The Community Care House’s motto is “help one, help another, help us all help ourselves.” Please review the attached sponsorship opportunities and return your completed commitment form to vocalflo@gmail.com by April 15, 2024. Please have monies submitted no later than May 1, 2024. All donations and sponsorships are greatly appreciated.
