 WILLIAMNAGAR: The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the 100 watt FM radio transmitter at Williamnagar via video conferencing in the presence of East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Vibhor Aggarwal, AIR Station Director, Tura, Ferdinand D. Marak, and other dignitaries on Friday. Inaugurating the transmitter, the prime minister said that with the expansion of FM radio transmitters in the northeast, the youth will immensely benefit, and with the inauguration of 91 transmitters all over the country, two crore people will now be covered by FM radio. He also said that broadcasting through FM transmitters and digital connectivity will be expanded to help people receive quality information, stated a press release.

The AIR Station Director, Tura, Ferdinand D. Marak, informed that the FM transmitter is a cherished dream of the people of Williamnagar and will cover a radius of 400 square kilometres.
