Roy Keane left his fellow ITV pundits in hysterics ahead of Manchester City's FA Cup win over Arsenal, after suggesting Pep Guardiola should 'smile more'.

The ITV pundits had been discussing Guardiola's pre-match interview with reporter Gabriel Clarke, where the Manchester City boss had declined to comment on Arsenal's team selection.

Guardiola had suggested the question about Arsenal's six changes for fourth round tie should be directed towards his counterpart and former assistant Mikel Arteta.

He also gave cagey responses over his friendship with Arteta due to the pair going head-to-head in the FA Cup and for the Premier League title.

The interview ended with Guardiola claiming 'he's more than welcome', when asked whether he would have a drink with the Arsenal manager following the match.

Guardiola's responses were questioned in the ITV studio, with presenter Mark Pougatch saying 'He wasn’t very chatty was he? And that was Gabriel being nice. What was that all about?'

'It looked like hard work for him, didn't it?,' Ian Wright responded. 'It's funny because I never hear anything out of those interviews...

'Pep always seems like someone who doesn't want to be doing them. It's really strange because I thought Gabe was on good form. He wasn't being nasty.'

Keane then commented 'I think Pep should smile a bit more', before adding 'and that's coming from me' with the pundit acknowledging his no-nonsense reputation.

The former Manchester United captain's one-liner prompted laughter from his two colleagues in the studio.

Manchester City overcame their title rivals 1-0 to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Defender Nathan Ake's second half goal proved the difference between the two sides, as Guardiola's side moved into the next round.

Keane was typically cutting post match, admitting he was disappointed by Arsenal's showing against Guardiola's team.

The City boss has claimed the victory will have no bearing on the title race.

Arsenal hold a five-point lead over the defending champions at the halfway mark of the campaign.

The rivals are set to meet in the Premier League in February and April in what promise to be two vital clashes in the battle for the title.
