Doctor Fate's cinematic debut in Black Adam has been a godsend for the character, with people digging into his long, illustrious history. Debuting in the Golden Age, the Justice Society alum has used the Helmet of Fate to defend the DC Multiverse from a number of threats. The Helmet of Fate has had many bearers, all of whom have had access to the Tower of Fate, the greatest repository of magical knowledge on Earth.

Doctor Fate is an extremely formidable hero. The good doctor has been a part of multiple teams and always made a huge difference in every battle. Marvel's villains are quite powerful, but even the most potent would find their power lacking compared to Doctor Fate's.

10 Kang The Conqueror Has Weaknesses That Are Easy For Doctor Fate To Exploit

Kang the Conqueror standing in front of Marvel's broken timeline

There have been many Kangs, but they're all Conquerors. Kang was the greatest warrior of the future, defeating every enemy put in front of him. He decided the only challenge was the heroes of the past, so he traveled back in time to battle them. Kang's tactical brilliance and powerful armor have served him well, but wouldn't make a lick of difference against Doctor Fate.

Doctor Fate has too many ways to beat Kang. For starters, he can just use magic to remove Kang's armor. He can mentally attack the Conqueror. He can unload with his most powerful spells and take him down. Kang would give it his all, but it wouldn't matter.

9 Annihilus's Power Would Break Against The Rock Of Doctor Fate's Might

Annihilus crouches down with flames roaring behind him in Marvel Comics

Annihilus is the Negative Zone's apex predator. The Cosmic Control Rod gives him amazing cosmic might and the ability to control others, making him a deadly foe. As the master of the Annihilation Wave, Annihilus was responsible for the death of countless beings. There are few monsters more frightening, but Doctor Fate wouldn't have much of a problem with him.

Annihilus couldn't use the Cosmic Control Rod against Doctor Fate and the sorcerer could easily teleport the Annihilation Wave into a black hole. Next would be depriving Annihilus of the Cosmic Control Rod, cutting his power down. Annihilus is still dangerous without it, but Fate's magic would be able to put him down easily.

8 Red Hulk's Energy Absorbing Powers Would Make Him A Challenge To Doctor Fate, But Not Unbeatable

Marvel Comics' Red Hulk with the downed Thunderbolts

Red Hulk made quite a splash when he first debuted, running through Marvel's heroes like they were nothing. Red Hulk's strength and durability were a part of this, but his ability to absorb energy helped immensely, increasing his strength and making him deadlier than ever. His energy-absorbing ability would help against Doctor Fate, but the sorcerer is too smart to lose because of it.

Doctor Fate would quickly realize that his attacks were making Red Hulk strong, so he'd switch tactics. He'd stay out of the crimson monster's way and use powerful mental attacks against him. Red Hulk has no defense against that, giving Fate the win.

7 Baron Mordo Doesn't Have The Spellcraft

Marvel Comics' Baron Mordo dr. Strange

Baron Mordo was almost Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme, but Stephen Strange's meteoric rise ended that hope. After killing the Ancient One, Mordo left to pursue his own studies. The Baron is quite powerful, having learned his lessons well, but he's never been able to defeat Strange. The same would apply to the more powerful and skilled Doctor Fate.

Doctor Fate has access to thousands of years of spells and magical weapons, making him Mordo's superior in every way. Mordo is tenacious and dangerous, but he doesn't have the power or skill to win.

6 Mephisto Wouldn't Tempt Doctor Fate

Mephisto stands in front of flames, smiling, in Marvel Comics.

The Marvel Universe is full of scary monsters, and Mephisto is one of the most frightening. The demon lord has amazing power, but he rarely uses his full might. Instead, Mephisto enjoys tempting his prey, making his foes fall into his orbit and come to him willingly. Mephisto is all about taking, but Doctor Fate would be able to resist him.

The key to Doctor Fate defeating Mephisto is Nabu. The Lord of Order will know at once just what the demon is up to and take control. Nabu in control of Doctor Fate and the Helmet can be just as scary as Mephisto; the two would have a titanic duel, but Nabu would win, bringing down his foe.

5 Loki's Mischief Wouldn't Affect Doctor Fate

Marvel Comics' Loki takes over Asgard

Loki is an iconic Avengers foe, the team's first enemy, and Thor's greatest nemesis. The God of Mischief is a master of trickery and magic, but he's also a powerful and skilled hand-to-hand combatant. Loki has been evil and heroic, facing the most dangerous combatants that both sides had to offer. He and Doctor Fate's battle would be epic, but the Norse god would fail.

Doctor Fate and Loki's spellcraft and power are about equal, so it would come down to who blinked first. Loki is known for his skill at manipulation, but having Nabu as backup would keep that from affecting Doctor Fate. Their battle would be intense, but Loki's arrogance would cost him the fight.

4 Dormammu Would Meet His Match Against Doctor Fate

Shang Chi Dormammu from Marvel Comics surrounded by followers.

Dormammu is Doctor Strange's most dangerous foe. The Lord of the Dark Dimension has earth-shattering power and an army of demons ready to do his bidding. Battling Dormammu is a challenge for all but the most powerful magic users. That puts it right up Doctor Fate's alley.

As the agent of the Lords of Order, Doctor Fate has faced off against powerful beings like Dormammu before, so he knows the key to beating Dormammu isn't to try and overwhelm him. Fate will have to outsmart Dormammu, which will be quite easy with the help of Nabu and his spells. Dormammu's pride and power is his greatest weakness, and Doctor Fate would exploit those to triumph.

3 Enchantress's Wiles Won't Be Enough To Defeat Doctor Fate

Classic Thor villain the Enchantress from Marvel Comics wearing green and lounging.

Enchantress is the greatest sorceress in Asgard, using both her power and beauty to beguile foes for millennia. A founding member of the Masters of Evil, she's battled Thor and the Avengers, preferring to use subterfuge instead of raw power, but when she needs to, Enchantress can duke it out with the best of them. As dangerous as she is, Doctor Fate can defeat her.

The key to beating Enchantress is simple: don't fall for her tricks. That's where Nabu definitely comes in handy. Without her ability to manipulate Doctor Fate, it would come down to a straight-up magic duel, and that's a battle where Fate wins easily.

2 Doctor Doom's Power And Cunning Wouldn't Be Enough To Beat Doctor Fate

Doctor Doom in front of a blue sky in Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom is a role model to Marvel's villains. He's a monarch, so he has diplomatic immunity. His armor is the most powerful on the planet and his magic is second only to Doctor Strange. Doom's genius and power have made him a threat to the gods themselves. He should be able to defeat Doctor Fate, but his arrogance will be his undoing.

Doctor Doom has everything he needs to defeat Doctor Fate, but that's true of everyone who has defeated Doom. Doom loses because he makes mistakes, and he'd do that against Fate. Fate and Nabu would take advantage of that and beat him.

1 Doctor Fate Is More Versatile Than Thanos

Thanos stares with glowing blue eyes in Marvel Comics' Infinity

Thanos's butchery devastated the Marvel Universe, earning the Titan his fearsome reputation. Thanos is powerful enough to challenge entire teams of heroes, his cosmic might allowing him to run through even the most powerful heroes with little fuss. However, Doctor Fate has the power to defeat Thanos rather handily.

Doctor Fate's magic gives him access to a variety of powers that Thanos can't match. From mental powers to matter manipulation to teleportation, Fate has powers that give him an advantage over Marvel's deadliest villain. Nabu knows magic that would easily defeat Thanos. Thanos is powerful for the Marvel Universe, but he couldn't stand up to a DC hero as powerful as Fate.
