Fast-rising Nigerian singer Abjay Manana makes waves in Mexico
Nigerian artiste Abjay Manana, who sings Reggaeton and Afrobeats, has been making waves in Mexico.
He raps and sings in English and Spanish languages. The style of Abjay Manana draws more attention to Nigerian music in Latin American countries. He also sings afrobeats in Spanish.
Born Balogun Abayomi Joseph, the singer bears the stage name Abjay Manana A.B.J Manana. He was born on October 16, 1989 at Ikeja, Lagos State. His popular gentes include hop, afrobeats, Nigerian hip hop, Reggaeton and trap. The rapper, singer and songwriter has been in the industry since 2000.
He records in Spanish, English and Yoruba. In 2020, he released his single Morire Por TI (I’ll die for you), which became a hit in the State of Queretaro Mexico. On September 8, 2021, he released his second hit Enforca, a trap where he advised high school and college students against the use of drugs and gang-related violence. The track stirred a lot of positive and negative reactions on radio stations.
He is the only child of Mr Johnson Balogun and Mrs Mary Omoyiwola Balogun. Abayomi started his career in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. He has an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and dropped out of Kyiv Medical University where he was studying medicine and Surgery.
He sings Afrobeats in Spanish, English Pidgin and Yoruba
He also sings Reggaeton which originated from Puerto Rico and Colombia.
