Be responsible, PS tells correctional homes’ children

The Lagos State Government has called on children in correctional homes in the state to work towards becoming responsible citizens.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Dr Olugbemiga Aina, made this call in a statement on Monday.

Aina, who was represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resource in the ministry, Mr Adewunmi Ogunsanya, said this during a fiesta held at the Oregun Correctional Home for Boys, Ikeja.

He said, “The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is determined to invest more in children in correctional homes to make them better in every area.

“We had in attendance representatives from the Correctional Centre for Junior Boys, Sabo; Correctional Centre for Senior Boys, Isheri; Children Centre, Idi Araba; Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Idi Araba as well as the Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Majidun.

“I want to urge the children to pay serious attention to the moral instructions they are being given in these homes in order to become citizens that the nation will be proud of in the future.”

The Director of Social Welfare, Mr Kayode Asake, said the concert was held to give the children a sense of belonging and assured them of continuous government support in order to make the celebration more glorious next year.
