A group of Nashville songwriters are gathering for a livestreamed event to benefit several charities, including two in Alberta.

97 South Song Sessions’ Hope Springs is bringing together a number of hit songwriters for an hour of storytelling and performances on June 4. The event will live stream from South X Sea Studios in Nashville at 8 p.m. MT.

Featured songwriters include Grammy winner Tim Nichols (Live Like You Were Dying – Tim McGraw), longtime Sheryl Crow collaborator Jeff Trott (Every Day is a Winding Road), Alberta-raised Carolyn Dawn Johnson (Single White Female – Chely Wright) and chart-topper Wynn Varble (Waitin’ On A Woman – Brad Paisley).

The charities to benefit from the event include Cassie and Friends Society, the Mamas For Mamas, Zero Hungry Kids, a Calgary-based initiative to ensure that children in elementary school have access to proper nutrition, and the Gord Bamford Foundation, which is based in the country star’s hometown of Lacombe. It’s a non-profit that supports initiatives that include or involve music, education, health care, sports, and multi-use facilities that benefit youth across Canada.

Tickets and donation information are available through the charities and the 97 South website.

The 97 South Song Sessions also has a festival booked for July 23-24 in Penticton, B.C. featuring Canadian and American songwriters, pending any further event restrictions.
