Hawaii is pronounced as ”the rainbow capital of the world”

The study titled “The Secrets of the Best Rainbows on Earth,” conducted by Steven Businger, has pronounced Hawaii the rainbow capital of the world. Hawaii has a bounty of rainbows and is the island to get a sight of glorious rainbows.

Rainbows occur due to the ”reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets” and Hawaii’s region and climate make it the ideal spot to encounter rainbows. Hawaii’s subtropical climate and weather pattern, subjected to trade winds, leads to recurrent rainbows and clear skies between the showers. Another crucial factor in producing frequent rainbows is Hawaii’s mountains, which cause ”trade wind flow to be pushed up, forming clouds and causing rainfall.” Without mountains, Hawaii would be a desert with a meager 17 inches yearly rainfall.

The Hawaiian Islands are situated in a far-off area, and the air there is extremely clean and pollution-free, which adds to the various splendid rainbows with the full spectrum of colours.  To see a rainbow on ground level, the sun should be within around 40 degrees of the horizon.

Rainbows assume an essential part of Hawaiian culture and are frequently mentioned in their art form and language. There are different names used to define rainbows in the Hawaiian language, which includes ”Earth-clinging rainbows (uakoko), standing rainbow shafts (kahili), scarcely visible rainbows (punakea), and moonbows (aneunue kau po).”

Travelers who are ever in Hawaii will get the opportunity to see one of the numerous kinds of rainbows here, so be prepared with the cameras.
