BTS’s ‘Film Out’ Is Officially The No. 1 Music Video In The World

This article is more than 2 years old.

Just over one week after it was first released, the latest visual from BTS has rocketed right to No. 1 on YouTube’s weekly ranking of the most-watched music videos in the world, which isn’t shocking to anyone who is even somewhat familiar with how popular the boy band is these days.

BTS’s “Film Out” vaults to No. 1 on YouTube’s weekly chart of the most-watched videos globally, leapfrogging over quite a few releases from some of the biggest names in the business. The clip debuted at No. 30 last frame, and now it’s higher than any other title.

“Film Out” racked up 53.1 million plays on YouTube between April 2 and April 8, which is enough to put it in first place...but not by much. In the runner-up rung is Jubin Nautiyal’s “Lut Gaye,” which is a non-mover, as it also ranked at No. 2 last period. The visual, which has now been present on the important ranking for seven frames, accrued another 52.5 million views in the past tracking period.

In addition to being able to sell songs and albums like nobody in the music industry these days, BTS typically have no issue earning impressive debuts and racking up millions upon millions of plays on their music videos, old or new. Fans of the septet all around the world flock to the video hosting site whenever they have something new to share, and they are used to breaking records with just-dropped videos from time to time.

On the U.S.-only chart, “Film Out” doesn’t perform nearly as well, though it is gaining ground. The clip lifts from No. 56, where it opened last week, to No. 27 thanks to 1.97 million views. That’s a 36.5% increase week-over-week.

“Film Out” serves as the first single from BTS’s forthcoming compilation BTS, the Best, which is slated to arrive mid-June. The title sees the band collecting all of the biggest hits they’ve released in Japanese throughout the years and putting them all on one CD (or one package for those who’d prefer to stream), adding just one brand new track to the set. The project will also feature their English-language single “Dynamite,” but only as a bonus track.

All those millions of YouTube plays should help “Film Out” perform well on charts all around the world, and it’s already arrived on a handful. The tune is likely headed for the Hot 100 in just a few days, when it will become BTS’s first Japanese-language track to place on the competitive list, and one of only a handful in that tongue to ever appear on the tally.
