Tens-of-thousands of lives saved in 36 years
A life-saving tradition in New Hampshire is preparing for its 37th year.
The Gail Singer Memorial Blood Drive is the largest blood drive in the country. It was started by the family of Gail Singer, who died 36 years ago this week, from Leukemia.
"I didn't get a chance to know my mom that well," her son Michael Singer said. "But, being able to Google her name and this is the legacy and this is what I get to know about her. My family is of Jewish faith and we are, I would say, very spiritual. One thing that it says in scripture is if you save one life, it's as if you saved the whole world."
When considering the blood collected over the last 36 years, it adds to tens-of-thousands of lives saved.
