Post Malone, Dua Lipa And Foo Fighters: 5 Releases Making Waves On The U.K. Albums Chart

This article is more than 3 years old.

Pop singer Dua Lipa may claim three top 10 hits this week, but she wasn’t able to snatch the No. 1 spot with her new full-length...at least not yet. She almost leads a chart flush with brand new efforts and titles that reach special milestones, including hip-hop, rock and even country releases.

Here are five titles that make waves on this week’s U.K. albums chart.

No. 2 - Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia

It was a tough battle for the No. 1 spot on the U.K. albums chart this frame, and in the end, Dua Lipa wasn’t able to pull ahead and claim the highest rung. Future Nostalgia missed the penthouse by fewer than 600 equivalent units, which is a frustratingly tiny sum, even across the pond, when first-week figures are typically smaller than in large markets.

As Future Nostalgia lands at No. 2, the pop singer’s debut full-length, a self-titled effort, rises into the top 20 once again and lands at No. 19. It hasn’t been present in the area since last fall, but it has been performing fairly well since Dua Lipa began promoting singles from her latest.

No. 12 - Queen - Greatest Hits

As recent releases from superstars on the albums ranking in the U.K., pushed down by a slew of new releases, Queen somehow manages to advance once again, nearly missing out on entering the top 10 with their Greatest Hits collection. Amazingly, that set isn’t the only one from the band to rise this frame, as another compilation, The Platinum Collection, jumps from No. 52 to No. 33, giving them a pair of top 40-charting releases.

No. 80 - Foo Fighters - Greatest Hits

Released over a decade ago, the Foo Fighters’ first compilation of their most successful tunes, the simply-titled Greatest Hits, is comfortable at No. 80 this frame. That’s a healthy rank for a title that has now found space on the albums chart for an incredible 350 frames. It is now one of fewer than 20 releases to hit that mark, and more are sure to join it very soon.

No. 82 - Post Malone - Stoney

The album that introduced Post Malone to the world and made him a household name is still going strong on the U.K. chart, and it has now spent almost three full years on the tally. Stoney, which produced hit singles like “Congratulations” with Quavo and “Deja Vu” with Justin Bieber, hits 150 weeks on the ranking this time around.

No. 91 - Kenny Rogers - Daytime Friends - The Very Best Of

Last week, Kenny Rogers returned to the U.K. albums chart for the first time in many years following his passing, as fans rushed to listen to and buy one of his most successful releases, All the Hits & New Love Songs, which appeared at No. 6. This frame, another compilation of his most beloved tracks, Daytime Friends - The Very Best Of, lands at No. 91. The set once made it to No. 16 back in the ‘90s.
