Yemeni Music and Discussion

ACEM (Arts and Cultures from the Two Shores of the World) and the Thayyizen association of Yemenis in France invite you to a discussion focused on the dramatic situation in Yemen and a Yemeni musical evening, to be held on Thursday, February 13 at 6:30 pm at 23 rue du Maroc, 75019 Paris (Stalingrad Métro station).

Since 2014, an atrocious war has ignited Yemen “the prosperous.” The consequences of this war are catastrophic for the civilian population. The country is suffering from one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world: more than 3.3 million displaced people, more than 24 million people – about 90% of the population – in need of international aid, and about 2 million children under the age of 5 suffering from severe malnutrition. The nongovernmental organization Save the Children estimated that around 85,000 children died of hunger or disease in Yemen between 2015 and 2018.

With:

  • Kamel Jendoubi, chairman of the Group of Eminent Experts on Yemen (United Nations Human Rights Council)
  • Bernard Dreano: President of the Center for Studies and Initiatives in International Solidarity and co-president of the international Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly network.
  • D Nasser Ahmed: Member of the Association of Yemenis in France, Thayyizen.

Artistic program:

  • Mohamed Bhar (Tunisia)
  • Amer Abdullah (Yemen)
  • Hadi Fadel (Sudan)
