A thug has been convicted of brutally beating a man following a New Year's Eve party in Birmingham more than five years ago.

Jason Webb was the victim of a revenge attack by Adam Taylor following a row at the party in Kings Heath, Birmingham Crown Court Heard.

Since the attack on December 31 in 2014 Mr Webb has needed 24 hour care after suffering brain damage.

Adam Taylor, 34, was found guilty, following a trial, of causing Mr Webb grievous bodily harm with intent. The conviction came after a crucial witness to what happened came forward.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Murray Creed and will be sentenced on January 31.

After the verdict Mr Webb's mother Anita Larden, who had attended the trial with other family members, said: "It has been five years. Justice for Jason. You can post that on his page. We've finally got justice. Fantastic.

"He's got over 700 followers on his page and they always ask how he is. It is such a lovely feeling."

The court heard during the trial that Taylor and Mr Webb had been at a family party at Kernthorpe Road, Kings Heath.

There had been a falling out between their respective girlfriends while Mr Webb also had an argument with the defendant's sister.

A number of people, including the victim, were asked to leave.

Taylor, who wanted revenge, then, with others, went out looking for Mr Webb and witness Aaron Kelly then saw the defendant jumping and stamping on Mr Webb.

He said it was a "nasty and malicious attack" and that Taylor had been "a child on a trampoline."

Tom Kenning, prosecuting, said Mr Webb was  not found until about seven hours later by passing members of the public.

He said he had suffered multiple injuries including a broken arm and a brain haemorrhage and multiple other wounds to his face.

Mr Kenning said after the attack trainers were seized from Taylor's address whose soles matched the pattern of the marks left on the victim's face.

Taylor, who chose not to give evidence, initially claimed to police he was elsewhere but then changed his story saying that he just punched Mr Webb once.
