2018 is looking up. It’s looking up, indeed, as Mariah Carey makes dreams we didn’t even know existed come true, after she confirmed she’s in the studio working on new music.

Four years after she released I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse we’ve been hanging out for more tunes and, if our eyes are to be believed, we could be about to witness her 15th album.

After hearing All I Want For Christmas Is You – the singer’s mega holidays hit – around 40 times per day during December, our ears have become tuned to the sweet caress of Mariah’s impressive octave range.

And now we shan’t be forced to re-listen to her old school hits, after the singer, 47, shared a snap of her hanging in the studio, with the message: ‘Missed my second home. Feels good to be back. #StudioTime #GettingStarted.’

Looking as glam as ever, with perfectly-coiffed Mariah hair, she clutched a glass of wine to help with the all-important #musicinspo as she reclined in the famous Westlake studios – the same place Michael Jackson recorded his album Thriller.

Fans were (perhaps not surprisingly) losing of their shit upon reading the news.

One said: ‘Beyond ready for what the elusive chanteuse has in store for us next!’

Another added: ‘HELL FUCKING YES CANT SPELL MUSIC WITHOUT MC QUEEN IS COMING TO SAVE 2018.’

After resigning with Sony Music’s Epic Records in April last year, Mariah told fans last year she was ‘putting her heart and soul’ into getting more music out.

In a statement released at the time, she said: ‘I am so thrilled for this next chapter and to continue working with, and for, everyone that I love.’
