Sending Local Talent to the International Stage

Boston, MA - June 25, 2009 -- A mere two weeks after Kris Allen was crowned the 2009 'American Idol', thousands of wanna-be superstars filled up Gillette Stadium, hoping to make their way onto the TV phenomenon's 9th season. Well, nationwide only a handful of auditioners will have the opportunity perform in front of a TV audience, but that certainly doesn't mean their dreams are dashed.

In fact, in tens of thousands of establishments across the country, everyday people are belting their hearts out, and the level of talent is often shockingly good! Over the past several months, Limelight Stage + Studios (www.limelightboston.com) in Boston's theater district has been searching for the best of the best in Massachusetts and found it wasn't just the premier music schools churning out jaw-dropping performances, it was the 60-year old engineer, the mousey secretary, people who without a hint of training, have what some of the world's most famous vocalists lack - raw talent!

So it is with great excitement that Limelight introduces the state's top 10 vocalists. They are: Liz Lohnes, Zach Williams, Casey Rae, Dan Reynolds, Jessica Hughes, Bradford McKeown, Sheree Williams, John Burns, Tatum Harvey and Paul Andriulli.

This Friday, June 26th at noon, these vocal powerhouses will be battling for the title of 'Massachusetts Champion' during an outdoor concert in Downtown Crossing. Limelight is also hosting New York, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire, but the Boston talent is so strong it looks like a local is poised to go far. There is $80,000 in cash and prizes at stake as well as a trip to Europe this Fall to compete in the International Competition where over 30 countries participate in a global sing-off!
