3,000 attend spiritual concert in Ranau

Ranau: Heavy rain did not deter some 3,000 christians and local music enthusiasts from flocking to the Montok Diau Tuhan Concert that was held at the St Benedict school field near here, recently, which featured local Sabahan artistes as well as budding talents.The Montok Diau Tuhan or For You, Lord Concert was a part of the highlights in the overall celebration of the 2018 Kota Kinabalu Archdiocese Kaamatan Festival that was held in St Peter Claver Ranau (SPCR) church.

Among the singers who performed in the concert were Masni Sumiran with her song "Tadau Kaamatan" and "Halleluyah", Fhilix Don (Trima Kasih Tuhan and Noumbalan Ku Noh), Fabian William (Mamarayou Oku Kinorohingan and Id Pagandadan), Rey Kimara who also acted as the host for the concert (Persembahanku), Lotter (Hidup Adalah Kesempatan and Andaikan Kau Datang), Nera (Ku Mau Cinta Yesus and Shout To The Lord), Greg (Give Me Jesus and Odoi Sayang/Okou Kalansanan), Evana (PertolonganMu and Tadau Kaamatan), Emma (Pihido Romou Mato Nu and Menerima Kesembuhan), Lydia Kalidin (Ku B'rikan Hatiku and Bontugo Tadau Kaamatan) and others.

Also featured in the event was the winner announcement and prizes presentation for the Kaamatan Song Composition competition, which saw Joe Alfred Idang from SPCR selected as winner with his song which he got to perform in the concert, entitled 'Toririmo Koi Munsikou Dika'.

Joe received RM1,000 cash, a trophy and certificate for his winning, while runner up went to Joseph Singkawan from St Paul Dontozidon Parish with his song "Sundu Do Minamangun" received RM700 cash, a trophy and certificate, and third place went to Niktino Surubi from Kota Marudu Parish with his song "Mamarayou Do Kristus Maya Kaamatan", who walked away with RM500 cash, a trophy and certificate.

All prizes was presented by Rector of SPCR, Rev Fr Nicholas Stephen.

Also present were the Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia, Timor Leste and Brunei, Archbishop Joseph Salvador Marino, Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu Archdiocese, Archbishop John Wong, Deputy Chief Minister cum Sabah's Minister of Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, other priests, religous and other dignitaries. - Clarence GD
