RTÉ has released a video of the full qualifying performance by Ireland's Bambie Thug at the first Eurovision semi-final.

Fifteen hopefuls battled it out last night (May 7) in the hopes of being chosen for the Grand Final on Saturday (May 11), with Bambie Thug becoming the first Irish performer to qualify since 2018.

Online opinion on Bambie's performance of their song 'Doomsday Blue' was divided, with some criticising it for "satanic" symbolism.

However, many Eurovision fans both at home and abroad praised both the set design and the execution of the song.

One X user said, "Best performance of the night with Croatia, Ukraine and Portugal."

Another commented, "Love it or hate it, Ireland took a risk. They sent bland pop songs for the past few years and it got them nowhere. Gotta respect the risk. It’s not the best song but it’s bold and memorable. And people vote for memorable."

Ireland joined Serbia (Teya Dora - 'Ramonda'), Portugal (Iolanda - 'Grito'), Slovenia (Raiven - 'Veronika'), Ukraine (alyona alyona and Jerry Heil - 'Teresa and Maria'), Lithuania (Silvester Belt - 'Luktelk'), Finland (Windows95man - 'No Rules!'), Cyprus (Silia Kapsis - 'Liar'), Croatia (Baby Lasagna - 'Rim Tim Tagi Dim'), and Luxembourg (TALI - 'Fighter') as the chosen qualifiers from the first semi-final.
