Blues singer Anita "Lady A" White has filed a lawsuit against country band Lady Antebellum, who changed their name to Lady A last month.
Lady A, who has been using the moniker for more than 20 years, is taking legal action against the country trio for trademark infringement.
The Seattle-based artist filed suit in U.S. District Court's Western District of Washington, Seattle Division, on Tuesday.
Lady A Entertainment LLC and its singers Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood are the respondents.
Lady A demands the right for sole usage of the moniker and compensatory damages from the group.
"Lady Antebellum's decision to replace the name Lady Antebellum with Lady A was undertaken with willful disregard of Ms. White's rights in her Lady A trademark, which she has used for nearly thirty years," Fox News quoted the legal document as saying.
The former Lady Antebellum had previously filed suit against White in Nashville's U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, accusing the singer of "attempting to enforce purported trademark rights in a mark that Plaintiffs have held for more than a decade."
