The McClymonts win big at 2018 Country Music Awards

The 2018 Country Music Awards have closed out an incredible year for The McClymonts, with the trio picking up three of the biggest awards at the ceremony on Saturday night.

The awards were one of the final events of the Tamworth Country Music Festival and featured some of Australia's most iconic country artists.

5,000 fans and artists packed into the Tamworth Regional Entertainment & Conference Centre to see the ceremony which featured performances from several of the winners.

The McClymonts were the biggest winners on the night picking up the Country Music Album of the Year award and the Contemporary Country Album of the Year for their album Endless.

The sisters also took home the Country Music Group or Duo of the Year award, capping off a stellar night for the girls from Grafton.

Travis Collins & Amber Lawrence were also amongst the biggest winners on the night, collecting three awards as well.

The duo's collaboration Our Backyard won big, taking home the Vocal Collaboration of the Year, APRA AMCOS Song of the Year and Single of the Year.

Aleyce Simmonds picked up her first ever Golden Guitar award after being named Female Artist of the Year while Male Artist of the Year Shane Nicholson picked up his tenth.

While some of country music's up and coming artists collected awards, there was still plenty of awards for some of the biggest names in the industry.

Country music icon Troy Cassar-Daley was on hand to present Kasey Chambers with the Alt-Country Album of the Year.

During the presentation Cassar-Daley highlighted Kasey's achievements saying that she had earned the admiration and respect of both her industry peers and fans all over the world.

Lee Kernaghan picked up the 2018 Top Selling Album of the Year award for his album The 25th Anniversary Album, which featured a range of collaborations with some of Australia's best known country music artists.

The show closed with country legend John Williamson singing Waltzing Matilda accompanied by The Bush Choir and The Bushwackers.
