2017 Hip Hop Event Starts in Cuba

With a tribute to Harry Belafonte and Cuban women, the 13th International Symposium and the 2017 Hip Hop Event is begining today, in which artists from six countries will participate.

The event includes until August 27 workshops, lectures, exhibitions and concerts in Havana stages such as La Madriguera, the Mella Theater’s Gardens, Palacio de la Rumba (Rumba Palace), and the basketball courts on 23rd Street and B Street in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado.

Artists from Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico, the United States and Cuba will exchange in sessions and share stage in some of the shows.

Almost all Cuban provinces will be represented at the Symposium and the Event, organized by the Cuban Rap Agency and the Hermanos Saiz Association.

The workshops will offer tools on semiotics, citizen music, rap application as a pedagogical instrument of musical education, and hip hop in movement.

Among the foreign artists are IGZ (Colombia), Ernesto Mejias (Mexico), Sekou (Venezuela), Taz Mureb (Brazil) and Rebel Diaz (the United States).

Cubans Reina y Real, Blow Seko, Ondalivre, Yimi Konclaze, The Citizen, the Carnal, Rum with Cola, and Cuentas Claras, among others, will also participate.
